Rep. Keith Ellison's (D-Minn.) senior adviser and communications director, Rick Jauert, a 28-year Capitol Hill veteran, is known for sending tongue-in-cheek Christmas cards, which always feature Jauert, a confirmed bachelor, posing with a fictional "Mrs. Jauert."
The 2009 version of "Mrs. Jauert"? None other than First Lady Michelle Obama, who posed with Jauert during a congressional event last summer at the White House.
The card features a photo of the pair, with "The Jauerts" in quotes below it, and a dove and globe that says "Peace for all people."
Jauert sent out more than 700 of the cards this year. "People actually ask to be on my list...it's very funny," he told ITK in an email.
Previous "Mrs. Jauerts" include Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Al Franken [D-Minn.], and writer Gloria Steinem.
One year Jauert posed with legendary Hearst reporter Helen Thomas, 89, but says, "My relatives got to worrying about our age differential -- and five of them thought she was Secretary [of State Madeleine] Albright."
There was even a photo of Jauert with former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro (D), "holding my goddaughter," which Jauert jokes, "really set my relatives to wondering what I've been up to."
He added that Socks, the Clintons' cat, was also a "Mrs. Jauert."
