AIRLINES. Linda Daschle is lobbying for the American Association of Airport Executives. Daschle is a longtime lobbyist, former acting administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and wife of Tom Daschle, the former Senate majority leader nominated to run the Department of Health and Human Services. Linda Daschle recently started her own lobbying firm, LHD & Associates.
AUTOS. General Motors Corp. hired Covington & Burling to help the automaker put together a financial restructuring plan it submitted to Congress. Stuart Eizenstat, a former deputy secretary of the Treasury Department, and Roderick DeArment, former deputy secretary of the Labor Department, are listed on the registration as lobbying for GM.
DEFENSE. American Defense International is lobbying for Shield Technologies Corp. Michael Khatchadurian, a former House Armed Services Committee staff aide, is lobbying for the company, which makes protective coatings.
ENERGY. Avenue Solutions is lobbying for Exxon Mobil. Amy Tejral, a former legislative director to Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), is lobbying for the oil-and-gas giant on climate change legislation and other energy-related issues.
Bethel Energy hired Dawson West to lobby for federal help to build a solar energy facility in California. Ron Packard, a former Republican congressman from California, is lobbying for Bethel.
HEALTHCARE. Golin Harris is lobbying for the Community Hospital Tele-Health Consortium, a group of three hospitals in Louisiana and one in Mississippi. The firm is seeking federal funding for the consortium. Michael Fulton and Melissa Matson of Golin Harris are lobbying for the group.
FINANCIAL SERVICES. Alston & Bird is lobbying for the RoundPoint Capital Group, a Charlotte, N.C.-based mortgage company. The lobbyists include former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R-Kan.), Robert Jones, who is a former counsel to Sen. LOCAL GOVERNMENT. The city of Miami has hired Akerman Senterfitt to lobby for federal funds, lobbying records show.
MEDIA. Heather Podesta + Partners is lobbying for the Newspaper Association of America.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Federal Strategy Group is lobbying for Verizon Wireless. Mike McKay, former senior policy adviser to Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), and Jason Roe, a former chief of staff to then-Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.), are lobbying for the telecom company.
