Washington's leading post-acute-care lobby shop announced it was promoting vice president Mike Cheek to a position overseeing reimbursement policy and legal issues.
The news from the American Health Care Association (AHCA) comes after another high-ranking official in the group, Elise Smith, was appointed senior fellow for health policy and post-acute care.
A veteran of consulting firms Avalere Health and The Lewin Group, Cheek served as Medicaid Long-Term Care Director in the District of Columbia during Mayor Adrian Fenty's administration.
He also has experience with the National Association of Medicaid Directors and other state-oriented groups. His new title at the AHCA will be Senior Vice President for Reimbursement and Legal Affairs.
The group represents skilled nursing, assisted living and long-term care facilities.
