Obama awards Marine the Medal of Honor

In a White House ceremony Thursday, President Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Marine Corps Sgt. Dakota Meyer.

Meyer, who is only 23, was recognized for his heroic actions in Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009, when he saved the lives of many of his comrades during an intense firefight.

In his remarks, Obama said: “In Sergeant Dakota Meyer we see the best of a generation that has served with distinction through a decade of war.”
