A new Web ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee calls Tim Kaine, former Democratic National Committee chairman and former Virginia governor, “Obama’s best friend on the stimulus.”
An NRSC statement calls the ad a result of “Kaine’s continued blind allegiance to President Obama’s unpopular agenda — including his decision to double down on his support for Obama’s job-killing tax hikes.”
The Web ad calls Kaine and Obama “Great friends. Far from the Virginia mainstream.”
Kaine is currently running for retiring Sen. Jim Webb’s (D-Va.) seat. He will likely face former Sen. George Allen (R-Va.) in the 2012 general election. Allen, also a former Virginia governor, lost the seat to Webb in 2006. Neither Kaine nor Allen is facing any serious primary competition.
