Texas Gov. Rick Perry said on Fox News Wednesday that former Gov. Mitt Romney is “Obama-lite."
Criticizing the healthcare plan Romney signed in Massachusetts, Perry said it is hard to find differences between “RomneyCare” and “ObamaCare.”
In his interview with conservative commentator Sean Hannity, the GOP frontrunner was elusive on the issue of Social Security and continued to use his “Ponzi scheme” characterization of the entitlement program.
Perry didn’t offer many details on how he would fix Social Security, saying he wanted to have "a conversation" with voters on possible changes to the program, such as personal accounts and raising the eligibility age.
He also said claims that he supports repeal of Social Security are “irresponsible.” In an attempt to the quell fears of seniors, Perry said, “We made a sacred pledge to you that it’s gonna be there and its gonna be fully funded. Don’t buy into the scare tactic.”
Perry dodged a question on who his running mate might be: “I’m not gonna touch that one with a 10-foot pole."
